Frequently asked questions
Is commercial solar worth it for a farm or business in Scotland?
It often is when a site uses a lot of electricity during daylight hours, because power generated on the roof is used on site instead of bought from the grid. Farms, warehouses and hospitality sites usually fit this pattern. A site survey and a review of your bills show whether it suits your premises.
How much could my business save with solar and batteries?
Savings depend on your site rather than a standard figure. The main factors are how much electricity you use in daytime, the tariff you pay, the roof or ground space available, and what you earn for exported power. After a survey you receive a written proposal with expected yearly generation for your site.
Can solar panels be ground mounted on a farm?
Yes. Where roofs are small, shaded or unsuitable, panels can be mounted on frames on spare land close to the farm's supply. Ground mounted arrays can face due south at the best angle. The survey checks land, cable routes, grid capacity and whether planning consent is needed before we quote.
Who carries out the installation?
We install through MCS-certified partners with experience of commercial and agricultural sites. Our team manages the project from survey to handover, including design, grid applications to the network operator and scheduling around your working day, harvest or opening hours, so disruption to your business is kept to a minimum.
Is finance available for business solar and battery projects?
Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status. This can help spread the cost of a smaller commercial or farm system. For larger projects, your adviser explains the options alongside your written proposal, so you can compare paying upfront with spreading payments before you decide anything.
